Who sells them? A lot of the new speakers are just 8 ohm and they will fry
the DS501 power transistor.

Hi Tom,
You would ask that - and darned if I have the info handy offhand. I`m
thinking I saw them in C Central.
Also I believe GM services them. (not sure of the ohms and thus why
I`m posting). I`ve got the part # around here somewhere - I`ll post
when I find it if interested.
But I don`t know the ohms of these newer GM replacements or those
claiming to be `correct` in the catalog (C Central I think) and thus
my question...?
Actually I think 8 ohms would be pretty safe w/ an early C3 amp. 8
ohms is probably in or darn close to teh tolerance for the early
speakers of that era. If I could find some modern speakers w/ all the
bells and whistles in 4X6 (at) 8 ohms I`d probably consider them.
I think what you are thinking of is the 4 ohm speakers - that`s what
all modern aftermarket speakers are nowadays. 4 ohms is certainly too
much strain for an older amp like an early C3. It`s a shame too
because there are really good speakers w/ butyl surround and 2 way or
better and modern cone materials. But 4 ohms isn`t going to cut it.

Subject: Early C3: Hard to Find 2182 Radio Bulb?

Anybody have a GM part# or suggestion on where I can find this bulb? I
checked a former Delco radio repair shop that still has parts and they
didnt` find anything but they also couldn`t find a part# either.
All the other interior/dash bulbs are easy to find at parts stores or
even WalMart but this tiny one isn`t.
it`s the tiny 2182 bulb that is the `stereo indicator` for the U79
Delco stereo radios used in early C3s. Take the radio out, take the
nose piece off and it`s a tiny push in/twist bulb (bayonet) that
lights up on a stereo FM station. The trade name is or was 2182. It`s
12V.

Future IT services might drive developments able to save today’s car-makers. For new technology to become reality, a much greater openness within the vehicle sector and a radical shift in the way vehicles are viewed is strongly needed.
” The vehicle industry currently views IT services as something that primarily concern the physical vehicle. However, a broader perspective provides the realization that a vehicle is so much more, it is a workplace, a cog in a complex transport flow, a financial asset – but also a cause of accidents and environmental impact,” says Jonas Kuschel, a researcher in applied information technology at the University of Gothenburg.
In his thesis, Vehicle Services, Jonas Kuschel studies the prerequisites for the development of future IT services for vehicles, so-called vehicle services. For example, IT solutions within the vehicle sector might make it possible for a vehicle to automatically book a time for service and repair via a wireless connection, but it might also entail supplying services to town planners to enable understanding of traffic patterns or current emissions levels. The list of potential services can easily be extended.
However, if the perspective is limited to focus on the physical vehicle, there is a risk that the vehicle industry misses out on a lot of new innovations. According to Kuschel, the capacity to develop new inventions and applications requires the vehicle industry to open up its innovation work and allow other actors to enter into the field of developing services.
“It requires the vehicle industry to move from perceiving vehicle services as a part of the product and instead to focus on the services as a part of vehicle usage within a network of actors. It is more important to focus on how a vehicle is used and which role it plays in society and people’s lives than on product development,” says Jonas Kuschel.

Title: THE MINI-BALLER LAND ROVER COMETH!! Date: Sat, 26 Sep 2009 01:03:07 +0000 Author: SyNaMATIQ
TWO DOOR LANDROVER FOR THE MINI-BALLERS
Land Rover has today confirmed what we’ve long expected – that the popular LRX Concept from the 2008 edition of the Detroit Auto Show is headed for production. The British-born automaker doesn’t actually say the new ‘ute will be called the LRX when it hits the market in 2011, but it definitely will be wearing the Range Rover moniker and will therefore likely be marketed as a premium vehicle.
No details are given about the coupelike SUV’s powertrain, but Land Rover does say the new vehicle “will be the smallest, lightest and most efficient vehicle the company has ever produced.” Previous reports have suggested the production LRX will share underpinnings with the LR2 (a.k.a. the Freelander) and will be offered with an optional all-wheel drive hybrid powertrain that may use an electric motor to power the rear wheels and a transverse engine underhood driving the front wheels.
Judging from the lone rendering released with this announcement, the basic shape from the LRX Concept should survive mostly intact, perhaps gaining a slightly more pronounced front fascia to go along with the production-necessary external door handles. Expect more details to filter out at the beginning of 2010, but in the meantime, click past the break for the press release.
