Hi Tom,

You would ask that - and darned if I have the info handy offhand. I`m

thinking I saw them in C Central.

Also I believe GM services them. (not sure of the ohms and thus why

I`m posting). I`ve got the part # around here somewhere - I`ll post

when I find it if interested.

But I don`t know the ohms of these newer GM replacements or those

claiming to be `correct` in the catalog (C Central I think) and thus

my question...?

Actually I think 8 ohms would be pretty safe w/ an early C3 amp. 8

ohms is probably in or darn close to teh tolerance for the early

speakers of that era. If I could find some modern speakers w/ all the

bells and whistles in 4X6 (at) 8 ohms I`d probably consider them.

I think what you are thinking of is the 4 ohm speakers - that`s what

all modern aftermarket speakers are nowadays. 4 ohms is certainly too

much strain for an older amp like an early C3. It`s a shame too

because there are really good speakers w/ butyl surround and 2 way or

better and modern cone materials. But 4 ohms isn`t going to cut it.

Subject: Early C3: Hard to Find 2182 Radio Bulb?

Anybody have a GM part# or suggestion on where I can find this bulb? I

checked a former Delco radio repair shop that still has parts and they

didnt` find anything but they also couldn`t find a part# either.

All the other interior/dash bulbs are easy to find at parts stores or

even WalMart but this tiny one isn`t.

it`s the tiny 2182 bulb that is the `stereo indicator` for the U79

Delco stereo radios used in early C3s. Take the radio out, take the

nose piece off and it`s a tiny push in/twist bulb (bayonet) that

lights up on a stereo FM station. The trade name is or was 2182. It`s

12V.

Although this car design is just a concept, and most likely all it will ever be, it is definitely something interesting to think about. The design was created by Pforzheim University alumni Anne Forschner for BMW. The concept has many different panels all covered in solar photovoltaic cells that can both charge the car and act as wind brakes. A great car in theory, but something tells me most people wouldn’t be too happy if they saw this car flare its panels on the highway.
